MANIFESTO

I work with acrylics to create whimsical, imaginative
and colorful paintings depicting women’s diversity.

My images highlight the complexities of being a woman,
and challenge stereotypes.

I am an advocate for women’s rights, self-determination and independence.

My goal, as an artist, is to play a significant role in furthering the
feminist cause by inspiring women to feel more empowered.

My art is introspective; often inspiration comes from my own experiences,
as well as from women who are, or have been, entwined in my life.

Women are painted with animals who guide and shield them.

Often the women and their animals share personality traits,
develop a symbiotic relationship and a special bond
.
My muse is Frida Khalo, who transcended her pain through
her creativity and became a symbol of resilience and strength.
I am also inspired by Marc Chagall, with his dreamlike visions,
and by Yayoi Kusama’s feminist, surrealistic pop art.
ABOUT ME
My name is Nadia Montuori, I was born in Italy
and lived in the UK for over 20 years.
In 2021, I moved to Algarve, and currenty live in Loule.

I have been in love with art from an early age. Having studied Art History in Italy,
I then trained as a painter in the UK with French and South African teachers.
While in the UK, I exhibited in various galleries in and around London.

I love immersing myself in art collections and exhibitions around the world and
I hope to be able to visit Frida Khalo’s “Casa Azul” soon.

Since arriving in Portugal, I have been expanding my creative work; I now produce a range of gift items, printed from images of my original paintings.
These items are for sale in various shops in Algarve,
as well as at Arts & Crafts markets.

I hope you enjoy my art!
