Fundraiser to support "APAV" - 120 Euros donated

🙏 Thank you to everyone who helped me support APAV | Associação Portuguesa de Apoio à Vítima during the month of September.

🎁 Together, we raised 120 Euros!

👩‍👦This amount can pay for 3 meals a day for 12 women with two children each.

💗 I feel very honored to have raised awareness about the sensitive subject of abuse, and about the amazing work this organisation does in Portugal.

Whimsical Art by Nadia is fundraising for APAV 💟

♀ For the whole month of September 2024, “Whimsical Art By Nadia” will donate 10% of every sale of original artworks and arty items, to the Portuguese charity for Domestic Abuse, APAV (The Portuguese Association for Victim Support – www.apav.pt).

🚩 Violence against women, particularly intimate partner violence and sexual violence, is a major public health problem and a violation of women's human rights.

😔 Estimates, published by WHO, indicate that globally about 1 in 3 of women worldwide have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.

❗ That means we will all know someone experiencing domestic abuse, we just don’t realise it!

‼ In Portugal, from January until June 2024, there were 10,007 victims of domestic violence (in 2023, the total number was 16,185, and these are just the cases that have been reported). In subsequent posts, I will share more data and insights.

👩‍❤️‍👩 I’m supporting APAV because the work they do, and the services they run, save and change lives; they give women and children the lifeline they need to escape abuse and start anew.

🎨 My art is very women-centric: it highlights the complexities of being a woman and challenges stereotypes. I am an advocate for women’s rights, self-determination and independence.

💚 My goal, as an artist, is to play a significant role in furthering the feminist cause by inspiring women to feel more empowered.

🙏 Both APAV and I feel that there is a strong connection between our missions and values.
